I picked up this complete 1930’s full mechanical calculator, with power drive.
Sadly even with many years of effort, I was not able to free it up, with over 7,000 moving parts, the old unit at some point in its almost 100 year life got very wet, and much of the internal moving parts locked solid. I tried many solvents, but there was still far to much moving friction, and lost a few fiber gears. so sadly this unit will never live again! But it was worth showing photos from the process, and how amazing this unit is inside!
Here is a 3rd party video of how it would have worked, had I got mine moving again!
Now onto phots of the unit!
And the inside!
I needed a number to have it display, and all zeroes would not have been fun, so went with 32 digits of Pi!
The calculator now lives on display in this form in my 50’s diner area.
