The front suspension is a mix of refinished old parts and new parts. The upper arms were cheaper to replace than to get new bushings for them! The cam bolts where too rusted and pitted to be trusted for alignment. Found these ones at Rock Auto for the best price!
I started with sand blasting all the parts and getting them into primer, for I will be welding on them to make bag brackets soon. So final chassis paint will wait for a while.
Cleaned up the mounting bolts as well to re use. Here is everything test fit. Turns out the 2WD bearings do not fit the 4X4 hubs, so will have to send those out to be machined out a bit. But the 2WD bearing assembly will not need any of the 4×4 axles to be in place to hold it together. So should work nice!
Now that these are all in place, I can mark centerline of the chassis and wheels, and get it locked into place on the shop floor, so I can start marking cab and fender locations, to get all that locked into place, so next big step will be test fit of cab and fender and weld in the body mounts!
I am sooooo excited this is finally happening!
Course, now I am down. So, I’ll be following along best I can.
Can do research and etc. from here. Love this project!!
