UPDATE: 6/2022 Lots been going on with other projects and the engine! I am at a point I am taking a break from the engine to work on the chassis and cab to get it ready for blasting.
Got all the glass pulled from the cab, this was a tricky and scary process, for all the old rubber was completely dried out and solid. so there was no good way to pull the stripping and get the glass out. The windshield was also cracked so this made things interesting. A Trick I found that worked great was to take a razor blade and cut from the font side to the center of the T section, to remove the rubber from the front of the glass, this let me just push it out easy, then remove the rubber after the glass was out.
Picked up some 10″ casters to clamp to the cab, this way I can roll it around to work on it when off the frame, these worked great!
This was an amazing find, while pulling all the gauges and parts from the dash, I found what looked like a rust chunk, I pulled it out from inside the dash lip and it was a key! A matching key to the OG one for the ignition. What are the odds of having a matching set of original keys for a truck this old! How cool!
The cab now off the frame, I can focus on getting it ready for blasting as well. The engine placement will be fun to figure out next, I bet it will need to be in the middle of the two drive shafts I have! that will figure ha! The old bed is too far gone to keep, going to have to buy new replacement panels for this sadly.
I am sooooo excited this is finally happening!
Course, now I am down. So, I’ll be following along best I can.
Can do research and etc. from here. Love this project!!
