UPDATE: 9/1/2022 Picked up a new sandblaster! The old one would just not do it.
This is a used blaster, but new to the lab! It holds around 90lbs of blasting medium, and should do the trick!
Tractor supply, has a nice cheap abrasive, that is made from old coal dust, it works much better than sand!
Got the entire frame top, bottom, and inside all blasted! Went through over 450lbs of media! ( I was able to re-use what landed on the tarps )
The chassis is now entirely in red oxide primer. Lots of works still needs done to the frame, the sectioned section needs bracing plates, and the cab mounts need removed and new ones attached, as well as some sort of rear link setup welded on. But I was tired of working on an old crusty rusty frame, at least this is a clean slate to start from!
Here is a shot of the blasting process, wearing full protection out in the summer heat is no joke! Had to make a blower to push fresh cool air into the hood.
Next project was the Axle:
Took well into the night but got it all blasted clean as well. It is a nice 4×4 S10 axle with factory disk brake setup, so perfect width, in time I will rebuild this axle, and weld on some link tabs. But like the frame, it is nice to work with a clean base.
The big next project will be to blast the cab, and test fit it to the chassis.
I am sooooo excited this is finally happening!
Course, now I am down. So, I’ll be following along best I can.
Can do research and etc. from here. Love this project!!
