I set out to build a Farnsworth-Hirsch-Meeks Fusor. This is a form of electrostatic accelerator, that does atomic fusion.
First step was to build the chamber and make up the gaskets I need for the ultra high vacuum.
I then attached my turbo pump. ( like a mini jet engine ) to get further pump down on the vacuum!
With the chamber built and sealed, it was time for first light, to see how things would work!
So it may be very pretty, but not what I wanted, I need to focus the plasma to a point, not have it flowing every other way! It was time to build a new electrode and better vacuum!
Ahh, much better! I had to ditch the high level electrode, and keep it down inside the metal containment chamber.
More on this project soon!
