Found this ‘broken’ scale at a garage sale for $1 I looked it up, it is knockoff Triner scale, that sells for a lot of money.

I opened it up to see if I could print a better scale face, for it was a horrible photocopy of the actual scale. And I found all the internals!!
This was a fully working scale inside, here is what I can figure out happened. Some china company made a super cheap copy of a legit good quality Triner scale, but they did such a bad job, the metal gear will bind for there is no proper guide for it to keep it mated to the screw. The springs inside are for what feels like a 100lbs cap scale. So they could not sell it as a working scale, so they just said screw it it is now a ‘non functioning home décor item’ now lol
So I took it all apart and cleaned it all up, and got it working! The inside was too pretty to close up, so after a sand blast and bronze paint, I made a new half dial gauge scale to put on the inside lip, so you can see all the cool inside parts.
I love how it turned out, and well worth $1
